A BRIEF HISTORY

DADA On Pointe was originally conceived in the Spring of 2004 as a in-house ballet workshop. The program later became established as a pre-professional intensive. Ms. Allen, along with founding director Mme. Adrienne Dellas, recognized the need to narrow the gap in the black and brown communities with pure classical ballet training. Misty Copeland (American Ballet Theater), Lauren Anderson (formerly Houston Ballet), Desmond Richardson (Complexions Contemporary Ballet), Alla Khaniashvili (formerly Bolshoi), Tiler Peck (New York City Ballet), and Alison Stroming (Dance Theater of Harlem) are some of Ballet Masters that have taught and participated in talkbacks for DADA On Pointe. Hundreds of students have had access to the best professional ballet training possible because of this program.

DADA ON POINTE TODAY

DADA On Pointe is now expanding to a full-time pre-professional day program led by co-directors David King and Ashley Lorraine Baker (Ballet Education and The Ballet Clinic). This new program is specifically designed for a dedicated dancer who is looking to pursue a career in classical ballet, concert dance or attend a prestigious collegiate dance program. DADA On Pointe is based on the success of the A Ballet Education curriculum and the results seen and produced by The Ballet Clinic.

DESCRIPTION:

The DADA On Pointe program focuses on quality of training rather than the quantity of hours. Students will train for 15 hours a week in ballet, contemporary and modern dance, learn ballet history, somatic practice, and performance technique. Enrollment will be limited so students receive more individualized attention and focus on details. The curriculum borrows the best from each pedagogy: Vaganova, Cecchetti, Bournonville, French, and English.   Each term is concluded with an exam and report card so parents can track their child's progress. This program prepares the young dancer to transition from student to professional by providing access to career counseling, public speaking opportunities, CV/Resume building, audition photos, and competitions.
