I created this painting while in the midst of a deep depression, but trying to claw my way out of the abyss. Embracing emotional ambiguity, Ultra Marine occupies a liminal space between sinking and rising, darkness and illumination, surrender and triumph. The horizon might blaze with encroaching doom, or shimmer with radiant hope.
