OUTREACH

Impacting thousands of lives every year.

COLIBRÍ ARTS

Colibrí Arts provides a fun, low-impact, energetic, movement experience and an artistic outlet for seniors and their caregivers. Ms. Allen designed this program to improve and maintain the health and vitality of our seniors.

DANCE FREE DAY

As a gift to the community, DADA opens its studios to the public for a day of free dance classes.

J.O.Y. (JOURNEY OF YOURSELF)

The J.O.Y. program was founded by Ms. Allen, leading Oncologist Dr. Lawrence Piro and the Debbie Allen Dance Academy. Wallis Annenberg, The Angeles Clinic & Research Institute and Cedars Sinai fund this program, which is designed to support cancer warriors and survivors using dance and movement. Dr. Piro designed this 8-week program to address the psychological and physical impact cancer has on an individual's journey. The curriculum focuses on the importance of exercise in overcoming cancer, telling your story through dance, and manifesting joy in a physical manner to improve health.

LECTURE DEMONSTRATIONS

Each year, DADA serves thousands of children in Los Angeles County by bringing dance education into schools free of charge. Through engaging commentary and interactive exercises, participants are introduced to the history of dance techniques and movement. Each program runs approximately 60 minutes.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

DADA’s scholarship program provides a necessary resource for over sixty percent of our Academy students and awards scholarships to students who participate in DADA's Intensives, Summer Programs and Lecture Demonstrations.

SUBSIDIZED SCHOOL PERFORMANCES

One of our favorite programs provides the magic of the performing arts to thousands of students nationwide by offering subsidized school performances. Production cast members host a post-show talkback and encourage attendees to write a letter to Ms. Allen for her keepsake and to be featured in our yearbook.
